3 Reasons to Visit Prince Edward Island

Childhood fans of Lucy Maud Montgomery probably will recognize this destination as the place where her heroines Anne Shirley Blythe and Emily Starr lived. However, there is more to see here than just the small, idyllic towns that are depicted in those famous novels. While there are plenty of spots relating to the aforementioned books, they aren’t the only reason for travelers to drop by. In fact, here are another 3 reasons to put Prince Edward Island on your travel list.

1.Beautiful scenery. Malpeque Harbour is well known for its’ delicious oysters but it is also an excellent place for photographers to hone their skills. Other good spots to take pictures include the fishing village of Murray Harbour, the cliffs of High Bank, the sand dunes at Greenwich, and the Cape Bear lighthouse. Prince Edward Island National Park is another good place to stop and enjoy the views. However, the entire isle contains plenty of beautiful places that might not necessarily be marked on any map.

2.Tasty Seafood. Oysters, mussels, lobster, and scallops are some of the island’s many culinary delights. Boiled lobster has been a common treat for years but lately more sophisticated options have been appearing on local menus.

3.Biking. Those that enjoy this sport and enjoy a bit of a challenge can try out their skills on the many small mounds that dot the island. The local drivers don’t seem to mind sharing the roads and are quite polite towards cyclists. However, if dodging vehicles on the road doesn’t appeal to you, there is always the Confederate Trail, which is what remains of a former rail line and still stretches all the way across Prince Edward Island. Even the tourist offices here cater to bike riders by providing them with trail maps and other resources.
