Traveling Domestically? Why you should Visit Vancouver

With everything that’s happening in the world, you could be forgiven for wanting to travel within Canada this year. And Canada is by no means a runner-up when it comes to top places to travel in the world.

Vancouver is a safe, fun place to visit, and sees visitors from all around the world each year. With rainforests, sparkling ocean, majestic mountains and of course, the many activities throughout the year, it’s easy to see why so many Canadians are visiting Vancouver.

Here are some reasons why you should visit Vancouver this year:

The Beauty

Vancouver is one of those few places where you can find an urban environment but still get back to nature, and many people consider it to be the best of both worlds. Head to Stanley Park for a walk or spend the afternoon hiking in one of the many trails that surround the city like Grouse Mountain or Burnaby Mountain. In the summertime you can spend the afternoon relaxing at Kitsilano Beach.

For those who like to run or cycle, the 10km seawall circles Stanley Park, and kayakers can head to False Creek for ocean kayaking and an amazing view of the city.

The Shopping

For those who like to shop, Vancouver has everything you need and more. Head to Robson street to find a wide range of both international and local stores, or for something a little different, visit Commercial Drive where you’ll find many different hip boutiques that feature local designers. Planning a bit of a splurge? The Holt Renfrew department store which is jam packed full of designers for women, men, and kids.

The Snow

If you like skiing and snowboarding, Whistler is a hop skip and a jump from Vancouver, and you’ll find it just a two-hour drive from the city. Other easily accessible ski resorts include Seymour, Grouse and Cypress and if you visit during summer you can also enjoy kayaking, golf and hiking.

The Food

In Vancouver, you’ll find the 100-mile diet, and it’s no surprise with all of the locally grown, produced and caught foods from around the area. Visit Granville Island, where you’ll find the public market which is full of tea, bread, produce meats and cheeses before heading to Edible British Columbia which has a bunch of gourmet food products from around the province.

When it’s time to each dinner, you’ll find a variety of choices. Sanafir is an excellent option for a night out, where you can sample drinks and tapas inspired by the Middle East and Asia, or Salt Tasting Room which is located in Gastown and has fantastic wines, cured meats and artisanal cheeses.

If you’re planning to see more of Canada this year, you can’t go wrong with Vancouver, which is home to people from all around the world and consistently voted as one of the top places to live in the world with the best quality of life.
