Havana, Cuba: Except for the occasional bit of cold weather in the mountains, temperatures on this tropical island stay warm year round. However, the best time to be in the country is between the months of December and April because the weather is often especially hot or rainy during the remaining months. Travelers that are visiting in December can even catch the Latin American New Cinema Festival that brings large crowds to the city. Points of interest in Havana include the Malecón seawall, the Castillo de la Real Fuerza museum on the Plaza del Armas, and the baroque Catedral de San Cristobal. Of course, the nightlife in town is unbeatable and you should definitely sample the local cigars while you’re here.

Milan, Italy: Although Rome and Venice are typically among travelers’ must-see destinations, Milan is typically overlooked in favor of other places in Italy. Perhaps this is the case because the town is often considered to be a representation of more modern times rather than the country’s glorious past. However, the city is home to numerous historical artworks dating back to the baroque and renaissance periods. Travelers that make their way here will also want to check out the city’s most famous architectural masterpiece, the Duomo di Milano, while they in town. Other noteworthy sights in Milan include Saint Mary of the Graces and Saint Maurice’s cathedrals. These churches are designated UNESCO World Heritage sites and admission to both is complimentary. Of course, there is plenty to do in Milan throughout the year but the best times for visiting are during the fall and spring months. After all, the city is also filled parks and garden that make perfect spots for a leisurely stroll.
