Even if you haven’t already plotted your holiday escape, there is still plenty of time to make vacation plans before the weather starts getting colder. After all, a destination doesn’t have to cost a lot of money to provide you with a great stay and memories that will last a life time. In fact, here are some affordable places to check out if you are still hoping to get away this summer.
Nha Trang, Vietnam: The monsoon season can be problematic in other sections of the country during the late summer months but those seeking to simply relax on an affordable beach should head to this seaside town. Price of Travel estimates that those on a backpacking budget can easily spend a full week at this location for under $150. Although this resort town probably isn’t worth going out of the way to see, it is nonetheless a good beach destination for those living or traveling nearby. However, the town is also one of the more popular scuba diving spots in Vietnam and there are plenty of beautiful waterfalls in the surrounding area that are well worth investigating.
Bali, Indonesia: The irresistible combination of discount prices, friendly locals, and excellent late summer weather make this a top vacation destination. July and August are technically considered winter months in this spot but they are still a pleasant time to be in the country. While parts of the island can be crowded at times, particularly in July, bargains still abound. In fact, the Price of Travel website estimates that backpackers only need to allot about $30 a day when staying here. Travelers can choose from a wide variety of activities including shopping in the traditional markets, visiting historical temples, and lounging about on the black sand beaches. Bali is also a very good place to go surfing but participants will need to avoid coming into contact with the local coral reefs, an experience which can be tough on the skin.
Cancun, Mexico: Although this spot is known for its’ Spring Break style revelries, by late summer the parties have certainly moved elsewhere. Resort prices plummet even though the weather is still wonderful. Bargains here are particularly pronounced during the month of July and the town is less crowded than it is in August. Those interested in getting outside the resort areas can easily traverse the region using the public bus system as long as they have local currency to pay the fares. Travelers should keep in mind that the local hurricane season typically starts in August and those coming here may want to purchase trip insurance to cover the cost of any emergencies that may arise as a result. Aside from the powdery shores and pristine waters, the area also has golf courses, zip-lining sites, museums, and an aquarium.
