“Why do you go away? So that you can come back. So that you can see the place you came from with new eyes and extra colors. And the people there see you differently, too. Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving.”
― Terry Pratchett, A Hat Full of Sky (Discworld, #32)
How has travel changed you? From a weekend trip to a months-long journey, travel has the ability to inspire change within you.
Travel has the ability to change you through exposure to other cultures. It can be suprising to see how people around the world live their lives, from the favelas of Rio to the impenetrable fortress of Buckingham Palace. And yet, it can also be inspiring to see how despite these differences, we find an inherent humanity in everyone that transcends these cultural boundaries. When you return home, a piece of that culture you experienced may stay inside you, creating a gratitude for your own life and your experience of traveling.
Travel has the ability to change you through a break in routine. Sometimes, we get caught up in our lives. We get on the bus or in our car, we go to work or school or the grocery store, and we come home, hardly glancing at our surroundings. When you wake up with a purpose each day, to explore and learn and take as many photographs as possible, your mind can feel revitalized.
Travel can change you through new landscapes. Sometimes, just being in a new place can change the way you think, feel, and act. Take advantage of it and you can learn something new about yourself.
