Great Southern Towns for 2017

If you’re planning to travel to the United States in 2017, here are some great American towns in the Southern portion of the country that you definitely don’t want to miss on your travels.

San Antonio

San Antonio, Texas. Although this large town is perhaps best-known as the home of the famous Alamo, it has a lot of other attractions to encourage potential visitors to stay for a while. Families with kids will no doubt enjoy visiting the local zoo, the aquariums, and the amusement parks. Adult visitors will be delighted by the museums, and the abundance of places to eat. Price of Travel reports that particularly good bargains can be found here in June. However, it can get quite hot during the summer months so prospective travelers may want to make their plans accordingly.

New Orleans, Louisiana. Despite being partially demolished by Hurricane Katrina over a decade ago, this city survived to become better than ever. Travelers are sure to enjoy the town’s delicious Cajun food, jazz music, historic spots, and festive events such as Mardi Gras. It’s also no surprise that this spooky Southern town is a great spot for celebrating Halloween. Perhaps not coincidentally, New Orleans is also at its cheapest in October. Yet the heat and humidity that are present during the summer months have tapered off and the excellent weather at this time of year is an additional bonus for travelers.

Pisgah National Forest

Asheville, North Carolina. This mountain town remains great destination, particularly in the fall when the foliage in the Great Smokies is changing colors in preparation for winter. The tasty local cuisine and a thriving arts community are just two excellent reasons for travelers to pay a visit here. Places of interest include the Biltmore Estate and Basilica of St. Lawrence as well as the Asheville Botanic Gardens and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Outdoor sports are a very popular activity in the region with activities like white water rafting or kayaking being popular in the summer as well as snowboarding and skiing in the winter months, making this a great spot for multigenerational family vacations.
