Canada has issued a Travel Warning to West Africa, specifically Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone, due to the recent Ebola outbreak that was reported about earlier this week.
Travel Canada released a statement on July 31st that stated, “Travellers could face difficulties accessing health-care services from an increasingly burdened health-care system. Travellers could also be exposed to the Ebola virus when seeking medical care in a health-care setting.”
“Canada is not alone in making this recommendation; several other countries are also recommending against non-essential travel to the affected countries,” the statement also said.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has also issued a warning telling travellers to stay away and if the outbreak is not contained it “can be catastrophic.”
The virus carries a 60% mortality rate which means that about 60% of the people that have come in contact with this virus and have become infected with this virus have died. We highly recommend avoiding any travel to those areas unless extremely necessary! If you have been to any of the above or surrounding areas or been in contact with someone that has been to that area you should immediately see a doctor or go to the hospital. “The Public Health Agency of Canada recommends travellers avoid all direct contact with a person or corpse infected with the Ebola virus. Also, avoid contact with or handling an animal suspected of having Ebola. Travellers from affected areas should immediately seek medical attention at the first sign of illness.”
We apologize for the late post but as the blog was just setup we were unable to post this until now.
