* Sicily, Italy. Although the region’s wine industry is sure to delight aficionados, the island is also home to a variety of historic ruins, UNESCO World Heritage sites, and lovely beaches. Those who like to live dangerously might even want to check out Mount Etna, Sicily’s own active volcano. The island’s weather is especially nice in the spring but the water will probably be too cold for swimming at such times.  However, travelers who plan their visit before the peak season in May and June can certainly snag some discount prices.

* Adelaide, Australia. This is a great vacation spot for shopaholics, foodies, and wine lovers. After all, there are plenty of boutiques and gourmet dining options to be found here. The city is also located near several renowned wine regions. Nature lovers are sure to enjoy strolling the sandy beaches and visiting the nearby national parks. Day trips to Victor’s Harbor to see the fairy penguins and to Port Lincoln to go cage diving with the sharks are both popular activities. Various arts and music festivals even take place in town during the month of March. During this time, the weather is more pleasant and Adelaide is far less crowded than it is in the summer months.

* Bavaria, Germany. Because the region is celebrating the 500th anniversary of the Beer Purity Law, the ensuing Oktoberfest is sure to be bigger and better than ever. Those that want to avoid the resultant party should drop by during the quieter spring months. After all, a more sedate atmosphere is sure to be found at the  Munich Spring Festival, which will be taking place from April 15th to May 1st this year. Of course, Bavaria’s gorgeous scenery and historic castles are sure to delight visitors at any time but it is only in the spring that the tasty white asparagus makes its appearance.

* Faroe Islands, Denmark. If hiking, bird watching, or photography is among your favorite hobbies, this is definitely a good spot to add to your travel itinerary. Outdoors activities are also plentiful in this scenic spot. The best time to visit the Faroe Islands is between the months of May and July when the daylight hours are at their longest and the temperatures are at their most pleasant. However, that fact is common knowledge and popular sites may be crowded as a result of dropping by during the high season. Travelers should also be aware that shopping here can be a costly pastime because of the extremely high taxes on goods.

Happy Travels!
