Xi’an, China. A daily budget of $30 per person will take care of most your basic expenses. While this town tends towards the more affordable side of things, the reason most people drop by is to visit the site that the Terracotta Warriors have been guarding for centuries. Seeing them in all their glory does tend to be a bit pricey with admission prices at $22 for adults and $11 for youth. Otherwise, Xi’an remains a good all-around value.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Travelers can get by in this country on a basic budget of $40 a day but it is certainly worth shopping around here to get the best value for your money since upscale hotels are known to go for much lower prices. Sampling the tasty local cuisine is yet another way to save money in this spot. Visitors might want to check out the KL Observation Tower, the historic city center, and the scenic Lake Gardens while they’re in town as well.

Beijing, China. While the town is at its cheapest during June, it’s not that expensive at other times of the year. A good basic price to start off with is about $30 per person but that can easily go up if you plan on doing a lot of shopping or staying at expensive hotels. The formerly Forbidden City is one of the more popular sites in town and sections of the Great Wall are close enough to be reached on day tours.

Manila, The Philippines. While travelers to the main town in this country can get by on a basic daily budget of about $25 per person, those visiting the outer lying areas might even be able to trim their budget significantly. A wide range of hotels are available here, the local food is reasonably priced, and there are quite a number of free sites to see in town. However, if you plan on stopping by popular beach spots like Boracay Island, you’ll need to factor a higher daily base rate of around $36 per person.
