If you’re looking for a big city vacation that also provides you with some great food options, here are the best metropolises to consider in 2017.
Tokyo. While it might not be the cheapest of destinations, particularly if you spend all your time eating in fancy restaurants, there’s no denying that this town is hard to beat in terms of delicious food. Sushi, green tea, miso soup and wagu beef are just the first images that come to mind when one thinks about the wonderful culinary offerings that this country regularly serves up. Travelers should subsequently budget at least $70 to cover their basic expenses while they’re in town.
Paris. Of course, the French capitol is well-known for its tasty cuisine that includes plenty of different wines and cheese as well as the ubiquitous crepes and chocolate croissants. It’s not the cheapest spot in the world, of course, since a daily budget of around $70, will only cover a traveler’s basic expenses. Food lovers on limited budgets might want to strike out instead for other, cheaper destinations in France such as Lyons and Bordeaux as well as parts of Brittany and Provence.
London. Capitol cities in general are known for their wealth of tasty dining options, but they can be a little hard on the wallet at times. London is no exception in this regard. Basic daily expenses here can easily run over $100 a day, even for budget travelers, so you’ll want to plan accordingly. However, the food found here has gotten quite good, with local chefs working hard to sh off the old image of British cuisine as being tasteless and uninspiring. But there’s always room for old favorites, like fish and chips!
Buenos Aires. Argentina is an up-and-coming food destination but the country’s beef has been well-known for quite some time. This is also great big city spot for budget travelers, since daily expenses here will typically run a little less than $50 per person. Food and accommodations tend to be very reasonably priced in this town. However, the cost of fun activities like rafting on the rivers or taking a day tour to nearby sights can quickly raise your budget to much higher levels.
And, as always, happy travels!
